Contributory Parents Visa (Subclass 864/143)

This Visa allows you to stay permanently in Australia if you are parent of Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.

Prerequisites for the Visa:-

• You must have either at least half of the children living in Australia or have more children living in Australia than in any other country living lawfully in Australia for at least two years before the visa application is lodged.
• You meet the age requirements of Men being 65 years and women varying on the basis of their date of birth.
• You must have a sponsoring child who is either an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
• You must have good moral conduct and health.
• You must not have any outstanding debts to Australian government or have arrangements to pay the debts.

Privileges of the Visa:-

• Provides you right to live in Australia for indefinite period .
• You can study or work in Australia during your stay.
• You can enrol in Medicare, Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses.

How much the visa costs:-

• Contributory Aged Parent (Permanent) visa-Depends on the visa conditions
• Additional Applicant Charge 18 and over- Depends on the visa conditions
• Additional Applicant Charge 18 and under- Depends on the visa conditions

Additional charges:-

• Medical Examination:-To be paid directly to the doctor conducting medical examination
• Police check:-To the corresponding authorities in the respective countries where you have lived for more than 6/12 months depending on the visa subclass
• Certification/Translation of Docs-Depending on the certifying person and number of copies to be certified.

Contributory Parents Visa (Subclass 143)

If you are a parent of an Australian citizen, ­permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen you may apply to live permanently with them in Australia.

Requisites of the Visa:-

• You are outside Australia
• You hold temporary Visa 173
• You must have either at least half of the children living in Australia or have more children living in Australia than in any other country living lawfully in Australia for at least two years before the visa application is lodged.
• You must have a sponsoring child who is either an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
• You must have good moral conduct and health.
• You must not have any outstanding debts to Australian government or have arrangements to pay the debts.

Privileges of the Visa:-

• Provides you right to live in Australia indefinitely.
• Applicant can work in Australia during your stay.
• Applicant can enrol in Medicare, Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses.
• Allows you to apply citizenship if you meet certain requirements.
• Allows you to move to and fro for five years starting from the day visa is granted.
• You can sponsor your relatives for permanent residency.
• Can get enrolment in English classes.

How much the visa costs:-

• Contributory Parent (Migrant) (Subclass 143) visa-325$ (Base Application Charge)Additional Applicant Charge 18 and over-165$

If this visa is for:

• An applicant who is the holder of a Subclass 173 (Contributory Parent (Temporary)) visa at the time of application; or
• An applicant who has been the holder of a Subclass 173 (Contributory Parent (Temporary)) visa; and is the holder of a substituted
• Subclass 600 visa at the time of application; or
• An applicant who has held a Subclass 173 (Contributory Parent (Temporary)) visa at any time in the 28 days immediately before making the application;

Or an applicant whose application is combined, or sought to be combined, with an application made by that person.)

  • Additional Applicant Charge 18 and over-1185$
  • Additional Applicant Charge 18 and under-595$

This visa is for:

An applicant who:

1. Has been the holder of a Subclass 173 (Contributory Parent (Temporary)) visa; and
2. Provides the Minister with evidence that compassionate and compelling circumstances exist for the person to be

Considered to be the holder of a Subclass 173 (Contributory Parent (Temporary)) visa for the purpose of the application;

Or an applicant whose application is combined, or sought to be combined, with an application made by that person )

Any other Applicant who does not meet the above condition then

• Additional Applicant Charge 18 and over-1185$
• Additional Applicant Charge 18 and under-595$
